About Our Founder, Michael Gureghian
When he was just 11-years-old, Michael Gureghian — an American of Armenian descent — wanted to find a way to give back and help those less fortunate than himself. He established Athletes for Armenia in an effort to give Armenian children in orphanages the opportunities he had as an amateur American athlete. Hearing stories from his grandparents of the Armenian Genocide inspired him to do something meaningful that might make the lives of orphans living in Armenia a little bit better.
Michael's parents, Vahan and Danielle, encouraged Michael to get Athletes for Armenia off the ground and have supported his endeavor as it has grown. They are proud of his accomplishment and are heartened that he feels connected to his Armenian heritage.
